Step by Step guide on how to connect a CCTV Camera to a Widescreen TV for Realtime Viewing

If you require a simple 1 CCTV Camera monitoring system then this setup might be a suitable solution . This setup is only for realtime viewing & provides no recording or playback features . If you require recording or playback features then a full CCTV System would be required . This setup would be useful to monitor a location for Door Entry in both domestic and commercial properties , when a full CCTV System is not always required.

To start you will need all of the following equipment below, which is:

  • Any CCTV Camera of your choice, we are using one of our 700TVL Cmos Domes.
  • BNC Lead (Size of your choice as you will need connect this from the camera to the monitor, for this example we are using a 1 metre lead)
  • Scart adapter [optional] (Not required if you have a spare SVBS Video input – Yellow RCA Connector on your Widescreen TV)
  • BNC to RCA Convertor Adapter this will be used to attach to the SVBS Video input connection (Yellow RCA Plug) on your monitor, this will either attach to the scart adapter or not depending on your monitor input
  • Standard 12V DC PSU to power the CCTV Camera.

Step One

(If you already have a spare SVBS video input port on your Widescreen TV you can skip this step and move on to step 2).

To start off, firstly you need to get and plug in your scart adapter, this is important if you don’t have this your video from your CCTV Camera will not be displayed.

Step Two

Next you need to take your BNC to RCA Connector/Plug and either plug it into the video input (yellow socket) on the scart adapter or plug it into the one on your Widescreen TV.

Step Three

You now need to get your BNC patch lead (which ever size you selected) and connect one side of the leads into the BNC Plug you just attached to your video input port.

Step Four

After you have connected your BNC patch lead you need to get your CCTV Camera (as you can see from the picture we are using one of our CCTV Eyeball Domes). You now need to get the other side of the BNC patch lead which is not connected and plug that into the Bnc Male on the camera.

Step Seven

The CCTV Camera is now fully setup and connected to the CCTV Monitor now you need to go on to your CCTV Monitors source and change it to the input you used, for this instance we connected it up originally with the scart adapter, therefore select scart on the menu.
